Carborundum Universal Ltd (CUMI), a Murugappa Group company opened its latest research and development centre at its industrial ceramics division facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The facility was inaugurated by M M Murugappan, Chairman of CUMI and Vice-Chairman of Murugappa Group, along with K Srinivasan, Managing Director of CUMI, Jitendra J Jadhav, Director, CSIR & NAL, Bangalore, and D K Das, Associate Director & Outstanding Scientist, SAC – ISRO. The new R&D facility boasts of advanced equipment for material characterisation, micro structural analysis, finished component analysis and other critical areas, supplementing the existing R&D activity of the unit, according to a company statement.
Certified by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), government of India, the unit will be a Centre of Excellence for research in technical ceramics for industrial and advanced applications.
