Philips India has commissioned a new manufacturing facility for mixers / grinders in Thaiyur near Chennai in Tamil Nadu . The new manufacturing facility of Preethi Kitchen Appliances Pvt Ltd has been wholly acquired by Philips India in 2011. The new plant spread across 70,000 square foot will produce mixer and grinder and has a capacity of 1.20 million units per year. The project cost is estimated at ₹ 400 million.
Currently, the firm has two plants – one for making motors and another for assembling – at a nearby site. Production at these plants had been scaled down and it would be merged with the new plant in the coming days.
