Patel PEL Power Ltd to set up 3×350 MW thermal project at Akurumutu in Nagapattinam district in Tamil Nadu. Land required for the project is around 421 acres and imported coal to be used as fuel. It is proposed to be transported through sea route. Sweet water requirement is to be met by desalination.
