Tamil Nadu government through Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) is setting up a 400 MLD capacity sea water reverse osmosis desalination plant. It will be located in Perur in ECR in Thiruporur Tehsil in Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu. The project cost is estimated at ₹ 60,780 million. The project will be funded through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Development Fund (TNIDF) and State budgetary support of Rs 1,061.10 crore.
