Chennai Power Generation Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Mediterranean Holding SA SPF London is planning to set up a 2 x 660 MW coal based thermal power plant in Kattupalli/Kalanji villages in Ponneri Taluk in Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu. The project was earlier conceived by TNEB to set up the project under MoU route and was supposed to be a LNG based power project using the LNG from the upcoming LNG terminal of Ennore. It may be noted, North Chennai Power plant is situated near the site.
