Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) is planning to reconstruct the famous Pamban railbridge in Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu. The company has started the preliminary works for constructing the 2.05 km long ‘new Pamban rail bridge viaduct’. RVNL, which has been entrusted with the prestigious project, has awarded the contract to Ahmedabad-based Ranjit Buildcon Limited. The project cost is estimated at ₹ a 2,480 million with vertical single lift span (truss type girder). The new bridge would have 100 spans.
