Sri-Sathyanathaswamy Temple-Thirukalimedu-Kanchipuram

Sri-Sathyanathaswamy Temple in Thirukalimedu in Kanchipuram district. It is an ancient temple of th century AD.The temple is a padal petra sthalam- sung by Nayanmars-Sundarar.

According to legend, the Lord Shiva was worshipped here by Indra when the place was called as Karaivanam. Later it was called Thirunerikaraikadu. Now the current name Thirukalimedu was derived from that name.

The temple is also famous for Budha Bhagavan deity. as he too worshipped Shiva here. Further, for Lord Dakshinamurthy – you normally find only four students- Sanagar, Sanandanar, Sananthakumar and Sanaathanar. Here, he has 7 disciples.
