Sri-Thirumagaraleeswarar-Temple-Thirumagaral-Kanchipuram

Sri-Thirumagaraleeswarar-Temple is an important Lord Shiva temple in Thirumagaral village in Kanchipuram district.

The temple is a padal petra sthalam and the Lord Shiva here is worshipped by Thirugnasambandar. Lord Shiva here is a swambu murthy. Meaning- He appeared on His own will.

The temple has beautiful mandapams with ancient sculptures and the estimated period of temple construction is around 7th Century AD.

According to legends, the Lord Shiva here was worshipped by Makkiran- an Asura, and the name now Magaraleeswara is a derived name. The Lord Shiva here also said to cure lot of bone related diseases.
