Sri-Thirusulanathar-Temple is a Lord Shiva temple in Thirsoolam in Chengalpattu-District. The temple is just few kilometers opposite the Chennai International Airport. Though a huge hillock and railway track divides the buzzing airport to a peaceful temple.
According to historians, the temple and the surroundings are a part of Chadur veda mangalam – meaning places meant for Vedas and their Vedic schools. The temple was built during 10th to 11th century and have inscriptions from Pandya and Chola kings
According to legends, the temple is surrounded by 4 Vedas in the form of hills and Lord Bramha worshipped Lord Shiva here with 4 Vedas here. The Lord Shiva was here called as Thiruchuramudaiya Nayanar and later derived its current name Thirusoolanathar.
