IOT Infrastructure and Energy Services, a joint venture company between Indian Oil Corp Ltd and Oiltanking GmbH is planning to set up bio-CNG units in Namakkal area in Tamil Nadu. Currently, the company has a biogas plant in operating, where it is altering to take bio waste and convert the same to bio-CNG which can be a clean fuel for use in automobiles.
The process involves adding methane concentration in bio-gas which may involve an investment of ₹ 250 million. Each unit with a capacity of 12000 kgs per day will need an investment of ₹ 600 million. Namakkal area is a famous hatchery cluster which produces lot of bio waste.
