ARS Metals setting up 120 MW unit in Gummidipoondi

ARS Metals is setting up a 120 MW coal based project at Sithurnatham, Sirupulalpettai and Eguvarpalayam villages in Gummidipoondi Taluk in Thiruvallur district in Tamil Nadu. Imported and domestic coal will be used in the ratio of 50:50.The boiler technology for the project is Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion (CFBC), which has achieved the best air pollution control at the least possible cost. The boiler will be capable of producing electricity through all the variety of coal available around the world, as the coal will be sourced both indigenously through long-term coal linkage with Coal India Ltd and imported through acquisition of captive mines in South East Asia and eastern Africa.

Air cooled condenser will be used. Water requirement will be 57750 175 cum/day, which will be met from harvested rain water. No ground water will be used for operating the power plant.
