Daimler commissions bus manufacturing facility in Oragadam

Daimler India had commissioned a new facility for bus production at its plant in Oragadam near Chennai in Tamil Nadu. The new facility was set up with an investment of Rs. 4250 million. It will manufacture 1500 buses initially which can be expanded to 4000 buses. It will manufacture variants like short-distance travel in the office, tourist and school segment under BharatBenz brand and long distance buses under MercedesBenz brand. The Oragadam plant could well emerge as a major manufacturing hub with exports to Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America.
