Indian Oil Corp is setting up the Bangalore-Ramanathapuram natural gas pipeline. The gas pipeline work for the 142 km Ramanthapuram -Tuticorin has been completed and commissioned. The criss cross pipeline connects Ramanathapuram reaches Bangalore via Tuticorin-Puducherry-Nagapappatinam-Madurai and Ennore-Thiruvallur and Bangalore.
The cost of the Ramanathapuram-Tuticorin natural gas pipeline is about Rs 700 crore and the fund allocated for the year 2021-22 is Rs 12 crore.
