North Chennai Power Co. Ltd to set up stage II, 2 x 600 MW thermal plant at Kattupalli and Kalanji village in Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu. The land requirement is estimated at 500 acres. Once through system of cooling will be provided. Desalination of water is also proposed. Coal will be imported through Ennore Port. The coal from the common user terminal at Ennore Port to the site will be transported through conveyor system. Pulicat Lake (Lighthouse) is at 10 km of the proposed site.
