Ekambareswar Temple – one of the five important (Pancha Bootha ) Shiva temples in the South India.  It denotes the element Earth (Prithvi). There is a 2000 year Mango tree which is the sthala virukhsa – meaning the temple’s tree which is sacred. 

It is one of the largest temple covering 25 acres and is built with additions over several kingdom of Pallava and Vijayanagara. The temple looks is maintained decently and still it shows it age and grandeur of yester years.

The place is also near silk weaving clusters.
