TN government to set up 11 medical colleges

Tamil Nadu government is planning to set up a government medical college in Siruvangur village at an estimated cost of ₹ 381.76 crore. The new medical college will have 150 medical students at its first batch. The medical college is around 55 km from Villupuram, would be spread across about 8.328 hectares.

It may be noted that, the TN Government has also laid foundation stone for more medical colleges at Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Dindigul, Tirupur, Namakkal, Nagappattinam, Krishnagiri and Tiruvallur. For Nilgiris and Ariyalur colleges, land for the project are yet to be allotted.

Currently, Tamil Nadu government has around 25 medical colleges in the state.
