Trichy City Corp plans 2.5 MW solar power plant in Pachapur

Trichy City Corporation is planning to set up a 2.5 MW solar power plant at its Pachapur sewage treatment plant near Crawford in the city. TANGEDCO has done a detailed study and has approved the site. The project cost is estimated at ₹ 135 million and is to be funded by Smart Cities Mission. The power generated is to be evacuated to Crawford sub-station through underground cables instead of high voltage transmission towers, since the distance is less than 2.5 kms.

As of December 2019, the project is under implementation and is go operational by end of July 2020.
